Our success lies in our continual investment in research and technology and in an ongoing drive for the production of innovative fabrics to achieve total customer service and satisfaction.  Gelvenor Textiles (Pty) Ltd was established in 1965 as a weaver and dyer of continuous filament lining fabrics. In 1967 the company started producing nylon fabrics for the manufacture of parachutes and other military fabrics, mainly for the South African Defence Force. Textured polyester weaving started in 1968 and by 1970 Gelvenor were producing a wide range of industrial base fabrics for PVC coating, woven from high tenacity Polyester yarn. The late 1980's and early 1990's saw the transformation of the business away from commodity products to concentrate on fabric engineering and designing fabrics for specific niche market applications. During this period fabrics were developed mainly for the following markets: • Corporate and school wear markets • Filtration industry  • Scrims, fabric reinforcing and geotechnical applications  • Personal protection applications such as soft body armour and fire resistance • Medical and cleanroom fabrics  • Military fabrics • Sport and Leisurewear applications  In July 1998 the Anglovaal Group sold Avtex, of which Gelvenor was a division, to Da Gama Textiles. This effectively means Gelvenor is now part of the KAP Textile Group owned by Mr Claas Daun. Is part of the Daun / KAP Group which is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The Group is represented in 31 countries worldwide and employs 14,000 people. The total turnover is currently in excess of US$1 billion.

Keda, who originate in the Netherlands, are wholesale importers of second hand used clothing situated within the Free Zone warehouse area at the Banjul Port. We also re-export to the West Africa region to such countries as Senegal, Bamako in Mali, Cotonou in Niger and Guinea Conakry. The company has been in the household import / export rummage business for over 30 years. It was back in 2004 that Holland based firm decided to re-locate its used-clothing operations to the Port of Banjul in order to get closer to its customer base in West Africa. Warehouse Operations:  Within our 3,000 sq. m. warehouse No. 3 clothes are separated, sorted and packaged by approximately 40 local employees into bundles for the West African export market as well as for distribution to the local Gambian market. Clothing Fripperies:Examples of clothing items for sale are men's & women's shirts, baby clothes, blankets, towels and other miscellaneous items.We have a total staff strength of 40, all of them local Banjulians.

The name PHAT-STILLO came from fusing two American Ebonic words: "PHAT" meaning Nice / Extra Smooth / Graceful etc and "STILLO" meaning Styles, hence PHAT-STILLO meaning Extra Smooth style. Project PHAT-STILLO has always been a dream during my years in Trinidad where i was engaged in another Business of importing and selling African wear ,Craft and music. This was a very successful venture until i lost some major money in transit to Ghana, so i decided to heed the call to Ghana ,my motherland to set the wheels in motion and get PHAT-STILLO up and running. PHAT-STILLO was registered in Ghana as a General Merchant in 2004 , we were then exporting Traditional African wear to Trinidad and South Africa as well as wholesale and retail of electrical Products and in 2005 after some good business we decided to roll out the Land and property arm of the business to help both Ghanaians at home and Abroad to realise their dream of owning a property in peaceful and Sunny Ghana.
