Zimbabwe is home to probably the finest furniture wood in the world, Zimbabwe Teak also known as Zambezi Teak. At Savanna Wood we are proud to be associated with this magnificent resource, and to have been entrusted with the preservation and utilisation of a large portion of this most important sector of our national heritage  Wood have not been content to convert it into second rate garden furniture or decking for the mass market south of the Limpopo. We have taken this superb resource and converted it into magnificent products befitting its origin. What could be a better testament to the Zimbabwe Teak Tree than a Savanna Wood Ndlovu or Boardroom table? Traditional construction methods are used. Drawers and boxes are joined with stopped dovetail and through dovetail joints, difficult to make but extremely strong. Carcasses, frames and legs are joined with mortice and tennon joints that are machined using the best Italian made machines to ensure a perfect, snug fit that guarantees the integrity of each joint we make. Such accuracy could never be achieved by hand. Unlike other manufacturers  all pieces are solid wood right through. All drawer bases, backs of cabinets, even concealed components are solid wood, with no plywood or hardboard used. Fittings are of the highest quality. Hinges are solid brass, and drawer slides are of the finest imported roller bearing construction.

In addition, a proprietary technology for producing office seating; the C-GEX SYSTEM is used in the local production of the chairs to ensure efficiency and cost savings. To this end, the company has been paying Royalty per unit of chair produced using this technology.
