Grand Cereals & Oil Mills Limited (GCOML) is an integrated foods company whose primary activity is the creation of superior value from local raw materials, with leading brands in the Cereals, Vegetable Oil and Animal Feed categories. In 1997 UAC of Nigeria Plc acquired a major shareholding in Grand Cereals & Oil Mills Limited, located on a 16-acre site at Kilometre 17, Zawan Roundabout, Bukuru, Jos South, Plateau State, Nigeria. The company which was incorporated in 1983, was originally designed to produce baking flour from imported wheat. Faollowing the ban placed on imported wheat, GCOML modified its operation and production objectives, and today, this growing subsidiary of UACN Plc is steadfastly engaged in many value-added agricultural-based industrial activities. The result is seen today in the current production and marketing focus of the company. GCOML consistently delivers to consumers, high quality cereals, oils and feed, via the careful application of internationally acclaimed techniques to manufacture premium products. The core activities being carried out by GCOML take place through the operations of the following production units: A CEREAL MILL capable of processing Maize into Flour, Grits and Offal as by-product. The Cereal Mill also cleans Sorghum for industrial use.  AN OIL MILL capable of processing Groundnuts, Soya Beans, Palm Kernel and Cotton Seeds into high quality Groundnut Oil, Soya Oil, Cotton Seed Oil, Deodorized Groundnut Oil, Cakes, Soap Stock and Lecithin. AN ANIMAL FEED PLANT capable of processing the by-products (bran and cake) from the Cereal and Oil mills respectively at 140 tonnes per day. The plant is also capable of processing pelletised poultry feed, cow, pig and fish feed on request. Incorporated in the feed plant is the concentrate/premix plant. The feed plant has undergone a number of capacity expansion initiatives, the latest being the new ultra modern, fully automated feed plant, ready for full activation by June 2004. This new plant will take the company's feed production capacity to 400 tonnes per day.   STRATEGIC SILOS capable of holding 16,000 tonnes of grains.

Spring Waters Nigeria Limited, is the producer of SWAN Natural Spring Water, the pioneer brand of bottled water in Nigeria and the West African sub-region. SWAN Natural spring Water, which has its origin in the volcanic highlands of the Kerang Hills of the Jos Plateau, comes in PET bottles of 150cl, 75cl and 33cl. The Company has successfully introduced its range of carbonated soft drinks of SWAN Apple, SWAN Orange and SWAN Pineapple which are available in 150cl, 50cl and 33cl PET bottles. In 1879, the United African Company was formed following the merger of four European companies trading up the River Niger: Alexander Miller Brothers & Company, Central African Trading Company Limited, West African Company Limited and James Pinnock. Uacn has demonstrated marked dynamism in it's over 108 years of operation in Nigeria. Its predecessors have included the Royal Niger Company and the African and Eastern Trading Corporation, which merged in 1929 to form the United African Company limited, a wholly owned Uniliver company. In March 1973, the name of the company was further changed to uac of Nigeria limited and to the present uac of Nigeria plc in 1991. The Foods Division was known as West African Cold Storage Company Limited between 1948 and 1973. Later in 1973, following the indigenization decree in Nigeria, Unilever divested out of uacn and it became a Nigerian company. Going down memory lane, in the1950's the business was concerned primarily with trading, by importing perishable Foods such as Ice cream, Frozen Meat, Fish, Butter, Vegetables and Fruits. The Foods Division was also in charge of storage and distribution of Planta Margarine for Lever Brothers. In 1961, the company moved out of trading and started on a small scale, Ice Cream manufacturing, Meat processing, production of Dog Food and Bacon. In 1967, the Foods Division stepped-up its production activities by packaging Luncheon Meat, Tomato Sauce, Vinegar and Black pudding. Fox Glacier mints were added in 1968. By 1974, the company took over the distribution of Ovaltine from Lipton. However until 1981, the company's activities were mainly trading. Though real manufacturing started in 1982, when the Business expanded its manufacturing portfolio to cater for the needs of the teeming population – the trade/consumers. Foods in 1989 was merged with Kingsway Fast Foods (an off-shoot of Kingsway Rendezvous, conceptualized in 1974), which was the restaurant arm of the former Kingsway Stores. Before the merger, a new restaurant concept, Mr. Bigg's, was introduced in August 1986 as a category under uac Foods. As a result of the merger, there was a need for expansion and this led to the movement of the factory from Ijora to Ojota complex. However in February 2001, Mr. Bigg's became a fully fledged division of its own, with the head office at Oregun. And it has today become the market leader in Fast Foods business. Moreso, on 1 st September 2006 uac Foods gave birth to uac Dairies formally known as Ice cream category of uac foods. uac Dairies is the producer of Supreme Ice cream, the leading brand of ice cream in Nigeria. The Kingsway Rendezvous model was finally phased out in November 1996. Currently, uac foods is one of the oldest Nigeria's Leading manufacturer and marketer of tasty and nourishing convenience foods operating a business policy that seeks to deliver superior value to its consumers. uac foods has two broad categories – Snacks and Food services. Kim Kombo Distillery Company Limited is a small distillery and plantation located in the Gambian village of Sukuta on the Mariama Kunda 'Highway' which is just off the road that leads to the airport (signposted). We produce a selection of liqueurs extracting the juice from locally produced fruits and other fresh ingredients from the nearby market. Among our drinks are the uniquely named Coco Lemunacoomo, Kombonella, Cocolime, Chocana and Cashewo. We produce a range of quality Gambian fruit and chocolate liqueurs using home grown fruits and fresh produce from the local markets. This does make the availability of some of our liqueurs seasonal.   Looking for something a bit different? Then there are the mango, orange, pineapple, pomegranite and star fruit trees and plants all growing with various rates of success. However the climate does not seem to be right for rhubarb or gooseberry plants.   The cashew season is from around March to July. It is a most peculiar fruit growing like an apple but with one cashew nut hanging on the bottom of the fruit. If you've never seen a fruit and you are in The Gambia out of the growing season, just ask to see Eric our cashew fruit in a jar!   LIQUERS 1) Coco Lemunacoomo Coconut, lime and banana. 20% Sweet dessert liqueur. Good when mixed with a fruit salad. Can be used instead of sherry in a trifle.   Makes a very subtle and different long drink when mixed with lemonade.Once opened keep in the fridge for 6 months or more. Will keep 3 years or more unopened.   2) Citrus Mondo Orange, grapefruit, lemon and lime. 30%   Sharp refreshing tangy liqueur. Can be mixed with lemonade or tonic water and is particularly good when added to white wine.   Good on pancakes as there is a lot of fruit in this liqueur. Can also be put in the freezer as it will not freeze due to the lime and alcohol so it can be served ice cold.   Once opened keep in the fridge for 2 years. Will probably keep forever unopened but we say 10 years.   3) Cashewo Cashew fruit. 20%   Unique tasting liqueur as no other fruit tastes like the cashew fruit.   Makes a very pleasant long drink when mixed with ginger beer.   Also tastes just like fruit juice so don't have a glass full in the morning with your breakfast.   Once opened keep in the fridge for 6 months or more. Will keep for 3 years or more unopened.   4) Duto Lemunacoomo Mango and lime. 20%   The sweetness of the mango blended with the sour taste of the lime.   Once opened keep in the fridge for 6 months or more. Will keep for 3 years or more unopened.   5) Chocana Chocolate, coffee, cream and banana. 20%   Like a tropical Bailey's. Good with ice cream or in coffee.   Once opened can be kept in the fridge for 3 months. Will keep for around 18 months or more unopened but store somewhere cool.   6) Talan Seyi Tambita Chocolate and mint. 20%   Talan Seyi Tambita is Mandinka for eight o clock has past or After Eight. Once opened keep in the fridge for 3 months or more. Will keep for around 18 months unopened but store somewhere cool.   7) N Ta Lem Chocolate and orange. 20%   N Ta Lem is Mandinka for 'It's mine'. That's because it's not Terry's. Once opened keep in the fridge for 3 months or more. Will keep for around 18 months unopened but store somewhere cool.   8) Wonjo Wonjo is a local Gambian juice made from the Sorrel or Hibiscus flower. Also known as Roselle. 20% Best served nice and cold at summer garden parties! Once opened keep in the fridge for 6 months or more. Will keep for 3 years or more unopened.   9) Origin Orange and Ginger. 20% A spicy drink that is warming in the winter months. Once opened keep in the fridge for 6 months or more. Will keep for 3 years or more unopened.   10) Anise No. 10 is an aniseed flavour liqueur. Not much else to say about this one.   We are always experimenting with new flavours so it is best to keep coming back to make sure you try all of our liqueurs.
