When chemlog started its operation officially in mainly the manufacture and sales of liquid and powder detergents in 1983, we had just five workers including staff production and sales. All of them have put hands in hands in each section of the plant. We were having only one production for household and five for industrial purposes. We had one van to service all over the island. At the time we were the third company involved in this risky and exciting business. Shops were reluctant to buy our products. The managing director, who opened the business (having knowledge and expertise in detergents, laundry soaps and toilet soaps) has to be on the road to market our products.

First established in Lebanon in 1979, as agents for international chemical companies such as Shell, Solvochem has rapidly evolved to suit the ever-growing demands of present day. Capitalising on the availability of tank storage in Lebanon, Solvochem then initiated and developed an alternate transport and delivery system for the distribution of goods to other neighbouring countries. Thus assisting industrialists to convert to using road tank-car bulk deliveries instead of drummed liquid products, facilitating the complete work system. With the efficiency of this conversion Solvochem took the lead and expanded to establish independent bulk terminals in Aqaba, Jordan allowing them to serve the eastern part of the Levant in addition to another terminal in Adabiyah port to serve Egypt. Solvochem's success in those markets was extended through cooperation and joint ventures to establish a marketing presence in Africa in addition to a nucleus terminal in Kenya. Today Solvochem is continuously expanding the scope of its operations. It anticipates, and is well positioned to meet the increasing demand for competitive logistics and services, as the developing economies in the area continue to require more diversified products.
