The Qcell mobile phone company is the 4th GSM mobile phone service provider to join the likes of Africell, Comium and Gamcel. It was issued a licence on the 14th August, 2008, by the Gambia's department of communication & IT. It is a network operator for multi-media 3G 900 & 2100 Technology mobile telephone services which enables users to gain internet access nationwide using a flash drive and SIM card.

There is also a roaming service now they are fully operational. Qcell also sells a range of Nokia and Motorola cellphones.

The firm  is owned by a Gambian named Mr. Muhammed Jah who also owns the QuantumNet Group. 

QCell is The Gambia's only 3G GSM service Provider and thus offers services that until now were not available in this country. QCell's network is nationwide with 3G service available in the Greater Banjul Area, Farafenni and Basse. QCell's customers enjoy the clearest possible voice calls, video calls and 3G/Edge Internet access on their mobiles. In addition, QCell also offers a variety of products including QCell mobiles, USB Data Cards and USB Wireless Routers and Huawei mobile phones at very reasonable prices.

QCell has in stock a variety of high quality, branded communications products that range from mobile handsets and plug and play Internet solutions for home or business.

Mobile technology is ever changing and there’s something new in the Gambian Internet market. Now, with the QCell USB Data Card, customers can now access the Internet anywhere in the Gambia. The QCell USB Data Card works on both Desktops & laptops and is a plug & play technology.

How it works
When you travel to a foreign country, your mobile phone keeps working: you are roaming. You can make & receive mobile phone calls, write text messages (SMS). You are not aware of any changes or differences as you move from one cell base to another. This is because the country you visiting already have an agreement with Qcell allowing you to roam there.
